The brainchild of former gallery owners Joann Edwards and Seb Hamamjian, the San Francisco Museum of Craft + Design is opening its doors in a 1920's commercial building on Union Square. Ohashi Design Studio: Architecture and Interiors handled the project, encompassing new signage of steel and aluminum and 3,500 square feet of interiors divided between two floors.
The inaugural show, "Dovetailing Art and Life: The Bennett Collection," presents studio furniture by Garry Knox Bennett alongside his collection of objects by 36 other artisans and artists. Admission is free until the end of the year. Opening October 23; 415-773-0303; sfmcd.org.
