Ceramic Tiles of Italy Calls for Contest Entries

Winners will receive $5,000 each.

Staff -- Interior Design, 11/2/2005 12:00:00 AM

The 13th annual Ceramic Tiles of Italy Design Competition has officially announced its 2006 call for entries. Sponsored by Assopiastrelle, the Association of Italian Ceramic Tile Manufacturers, and the Italian Trade Commission, the awards program recognizes design excellence in projects that feature Italian ceramic tile.

North American architects and interior designers may submit residential, commercial, and institutional projects completed between January 2001 and January 2006. Projects may include domestic and international new construction or renovation. A panel of design professionals will judge the projects based on creativity, aesthetic value, and functional and technical requirements. Specifically, judges will look at overall design, innovative use of tile, tile design, quality of installation, and how tile enhances a setting.

Winners in each category will receive a cash prize of $5,000 and a trip to the Coverings stone and tile trade show, which will be held in Orlando, Florida, April 4-7, 2006. Winners will also receive a free five-day trip to Cersaie 2006, an international exhibition for ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings, which will take place in Bologna, Italy, September 26-30, 2006. New to the contest this year, the winning contractor-distributor team will receive $1,000.

There is no entry fee or entry limit. Completed submissions must be received by January 30, 2006. To download an entry form, visit the Italian Ceramic Tile Industry online.
