From January 12-15, the international floor covering industry will gather at the Hanover Exhibition Grounds in Hanover, Germany for Domotex Hanover 2008. The 18th annual event, highlighting the newest and most innovative flooring products, will be bigger than ever.

The show floor will serve some 1,400 exhibitors (up from 1,300) from over one million square feet of display space (up nearly 22,000 square feet) over 12 halls. Exhibiting firms represent 60 countries--80 percent of firms are from outside Germany.

Flooring products will be showcased by type. This year marks the debut of two new categories, laminate flooring and parquet and other wooden flooring, bringing the total up to eight:

-  Carpets/rugs (hand-made)
-  Woven carpets/area rugs (machine-woven)
-  Textile and resilient floor coverings
-  Fibers and yarns
-  Parquet and other wooden flooring
-  Laminate flooring
-  Natural stone, ceramic floor tiles
- Applications technology, laying equipment, cleaning and maintenance

The event also includes an extensive roster of presentations and forums--among them, the Carpet Design Awards and exhibition and conference Contractworld. Participants for the latter includes architect Daniel Libeskind.

Last year, the show drew some 44,000 visitors.
