NY Event Auctions Off Big Name Designers

Designers will participate in a VIP reception.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 7/18/2006 12:00:00 AM

On September 14, not-for profit organization Interior Designers for Legislation in New York (IDLNY) will present a unique event catering to its cause. The live “Designers on the Block” benefit auction will offer attendees the opportunity to bid on services from several internationally renowned interior designers.

Proceeds from the event will support IDLNY, which is dedicated to establishing state-wide government-mandated standards for the interior design profession, with qualification determined by education, experience, and examination. IDLNY intends the event to "raise awareness that the State of New York currently does not maintain mandatory regulations for the design profession," according to press material.

The roster of interior designers includes: Bill Bouchey, Mancini & Duffy; John Bricker, Gensler; Shashi Caan, Shashi Caan Collective, Jamie Drake, Drake Design Associates, Rick Focke, HOK New York, Russell Groves, S. Russell Groves, Gary Lee, Gary Lee Partners, John Mack, HLW International, Nestor Santa-Cruz, SKB, Adam Tihany, Tihany Design, Calvin Tsao, Tsao + McKown; and Barbara Zieve, Butler Rogers Baskett.

The event will feature cockails and hors d’oeuvres and will be held in the Mohawk Group’s 16,000-square-foot-New York showroom, located at 71 West 23rd Street on the 18th Floor. Designers will participate in a VIP reception from 6pm-7pm. The auction runs from 7pm-9:30pm. Event sponsors include ASID New York Metropolitan Chapter, Doyle New York, Gensler, IFMA/GNY Chapter, KnollTextiles, The Mohawk Group, and Steelcase.   For more information or to purchase tickets, call IDLNY at 518-463-6765.
