From July 16-24, the State of Design Festival, a state-wide celebration of design, will take place in Melbourne and at several other venues across the Australian state of Victoria.
Conceived to encourage national and international conversations about design in Victoria and to establish the state as Australia's design capital, the event will include an awards program, the Premier’s Design Awards; a new trade event, Design Made Trade; Design Capital, a business symposium; and a Victoria-wide satellite program, Design for Everyone.
The event will approach the commercial, ecological, and social aspects of design across disciplines including architecture, graphic design, interior design, product design, industrial design, interactive design, theatre and set design, exhibition design, textile design, and craft practice. Several events will be held in colaboration with the Melbourne Museum.
The event is funded by the Victorian Government through the Design Victoria Program.
