Ayesha Gallion -- Interior Design, 7/16/2007 12:00:00 AM

Lighting professionals now have another reason to attend the annual design, construction, and management of the built environment tradeshow IIDEX/NeoCon Canada, to be held September 27-28 at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto. The 2007 exposition and conference will mark the debut of the IES Toronto Lighting Show, the result of a partnership with the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Toronto Chapter.

The IES Toronto Lighting Show, Canada's largest lighting show to date, will offer 5,000 square feet of exhibition space for more than 50 manufacturers of interior, exterior, and architectural lighting. Highlights include a peek at an array of shipping containers from Philips’ lighting designer Philip Gabriel; the Candela Ottawa Lighting Show, presenting the area’s emerging artists; and several sustainable lighting solutions.

As part of the launch, New York lighting design firm Office for Visual Interaction will present the keynote Iconic Lighting: Ordinary to Extraordinary, Thursday September 27, 9:30am to 10:30am. Jean Sundin and Enrique Peiniger will present solutions for transforming physical space via illumination. Sundin is former new product showcase judge for architectural lighting tradeshow Lightfair International and Peiniger served as a NESCO lighting expert in Kuwait. Both speakers are Distinguished Faculty Members in the lighting department at Parsons the New School for Design.

IIDEX/NeoCon Canada draws over 15,000 members of the design, construction, and building industries. The redesigned Direct Energy Center boasts new restaurants and a champagne bar. Registration begins July 25.
