At 82, Robert Venturi is finally finishing his thesis. To complete his Princeton University MFA studies in 1950, the architect conceptualized a chapel for the Episcopal Academy, his secondary-school alma mater. Once split between locations in the Main Line towns of Merion and Devon, outside Philadelphia, the school is now consolidating in nearby Newtown Square.

Venturi's chapel is the centerpiece of the new campus, opening this fall. Joining the Interior Design Hall of Fame member's firm on the project are RMJM Hillier, as master architect for the four academic buildings; the Gund Partnership, responsible for the student center; and Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, handling the athletic complex. The property was formerly the Du Pont family's Liseter Hall farm. And a key piece of rural Delaware County history will remain: a 16-room stone farmhouse from 1860 is being renovated and expanded.

The February print edition of Interior Design features selected renderings of the new school's design, along with photographs that chart the construction effort. But you can get more of both by clicking to start the slide show above.

Follow the project's progress further by accessing the school's exhaustive photo history of the transformation at EpiscopalAcademy.org.
