Diamond Baratta Design
Color them proud! Diamond Baratta Design has become the first interior design firm to win Benjamin Moore & Co.'s Hue Lifetime Achievement Award.
Established in 2005 by the industry's favorite paint manufacturer, the Hueys recognize architects and interior designers whose work "embodies a passion for color usage," according to a statement released by the company. However, architects like Steven Holl and Ettore Sottsass have won the lifetime achievement award every year since—until New York-based Diamond Baratta Design principals William Diamond and Anthony Baratta snagged the honor for nearly 30 years of pushing the color envelop in their residential interiors projects that range from traditional to modern, French elegance to American contemporary.
Ghislaine Viñas Interior Design
Also receiving Hueys—and $5000 cash prizes—are our very own blogger Ghislaine Viñas for residential interiors, Envision Design for contract interiors, Amy Wax for residential exteriors, and Allen + Philp Architects/Interiors for contract exteriors. The four honorees beat out nearly 150 entries from across the U.S. to win their categories.
Eikona Studios is also receiving a Hue glass award sculpture for special achievement "for its unique dedication to the restoration and preservation of mural art and masterpieces that grace the walls and domes of American churches, cathedrals and houses of worship."
Envision Design
The recipients will be honored with an invitation-only ceremony and reception at New York's Museum of Arts and Design on May 5.
"Benjamin Moore is proud to present [Hueys] to another group of immensely talented and visionary architects and interior designers who have clearly demonstrated their understanding of the power, impact, emotion and vitality that color brings to our world," says Eileen McComb, director of corporate communications for Benjamin Moore. "We applaud these design professionals and their exemplary achievements.
