FIAC's Back

Donna Paul -- Interior Design, 8/1/2004 12:00:00 AM

For three decades, the Foire Internationale d'Art Contemporain has been one of the world's major fairs for 20th-century painting, sculpture, photography, and works on paper. This year, FIAC brings 216 galleries to Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles—showing names as diverse as Henri Matisse and Anish Kapoor.

Organizers of FIAC 2004 have announced a threefold increase in the number of U.S. dealers and the addition of Future Quake, a group of young galleries selling work priced under $6,000. Also of particular interest, a new section is highlighting 20th-century design. At Galerie Eric Philippe, for example, look for one-of-a-kind pieces by George Nakashima, T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings, and Hans Arp. The gallery is also showing a pair of six-sided hassocks from Wingspread, the Frank Lloyd Wright residence in Wisconsin.
