Best of Year Winner, Seating: Residential/Lounge: Thos. Moser — Pasadena Rocker

In consummate Moser fashion we challenged ourselves to coax movement and fluidity from solid wood. Our intent was to build a quintessentially functional Moser piece in the “studio” genre; rollover edges and flowing joints. The result is a stand-alone sculptural piece, satisfying the visual senses while offering comfort and long service.

Best of Year Merit Awards, Seating: Residential/Lounge

Bernhardt Design/Fredrikson Stallard — Hyde
Fredrikson and Stallard married the ideals of the art world with production furniture to create the Hyde chair. Fashioned as sculpture that is as much art as it is furniture, Hyde is constructed of solid walnut with a hand-oiled finish and is tightly upholstered with an integrated back pillow.

DYAD — Saddle Bench
Saddle Bench recalls the lines of ancient Egyptian and Roman campaign throne chairs. The masculinity of the polished stainless steel is softened by the leather upholstery and the fluidity of the sweeping form.

McGuire Furniture — Barbara Barry for McGuire-Lunette Sofa
The Lunette Sofa pairs a timeless shape with soft upholstery and elegant rattan. The refined combination brings a quietly grand architectural element to any room. Finished with expert tailoring, one long seat cushion and 5 loose back pillows, the half-moon rattan armature is an artful gesture; elegant and spare.
