Yoo Teams up with Sophie Conran

Sophie Conran for Yoo’s effortless, vibrant style will also extend to Asia.

Meaghan O'Neill -- Interior Design, 3/15/2007 12:00:00 AM

Sophie Conran for Yoo.If you’re the daughter of Sir Terence Conran, style and design are part of your DNA. At least, they are if you’re Sophie Conran, recently tapped by designer Philippe Starck and developer John Hitchcox’s international investment property, Yoo. Founded in 1999, Yoo design and development has opened contemporary branded loft-style living residences in New York, Boston, and several other cities.

Sophie Conran for Yoo is the brand’s latest concept in residential property design. As creative director, Conran will be working closely with Yoo's design team to bring her effortless, vibrant style to a versatile space. She is currently working on two Yoo projects in the U.K., with the intent to move into the Asian, European, and U.S. markets. Sophie Conran for Yoo will provide a palette of five design styles: Blue Coast, Champagne, English Rose, Bond, Pebbles, and Sand.

Sophie Conran for Yoo.“Sophie Conran’s trans-continental approach creates a style that looks as good in the U.K. as it does abroad,” says Hitchcox. “The timing for us to launch an office in Hong Kong now is particularly topical given Sophie's strong following in Asia.” Yoo has also consolidated its Asian offices in Central Hong Kong. The company’s oriental presence includes JIA and two boutique hotels, Causeway Bay in Hong Kong, and Cape
Yamu in Phuket, Thailand.

This is the not the first time that Yoo has teamed up with a young design celeb. Jade Jagger (daughter of Mick) and her design partner Tom Bartlett joined forces with Yoo recently to create Jade Jagger for Yoo, which has a downtown New York location. Other ongoing Yoo projects include villas and a hotel in Cape Yamu, Phuket, Thailand; Downtown by Starck, a luxury residence on Wall Street in New York; the Icon Brickell high-rise apartments in Miami; the Seventy5 Portland residences in Toronto; and Leeds Lumiere in the U.K., a mixed-used development comprised of two glass towers.
