The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority has a large-scale casino project underway in Uncasville, Connecticut. Priced at $740 million, the Project Horizon expansion is estimated for completion in 2010. Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo is architect of record for the project and Skanska USA Building was recently named construction manager for the Northern expansion portion, which carries a construction cost of $350 million.
Skanska's project will include a 1,000-room hotel tower expansion, 115,000 square feet of additional retail and dining space, a 40,000-square-foot office building and a 3,600-space parking garage.
The hotel, owned and operated by Mohegan Sun, will carry the brand of entertainment company House of Blues. An exclusive, members-only House of Blues Foundation Room will be located on the upper floors and 300 rooms will be House-of Blues-themed.
Skanska also has casino projects rising in Detroit, Michigan and Snoqualmie, Washington. The company is based out of Parsippany, New Jersey.
