A recent telephone survey conducted for the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) suggests more homeowners are seeking interior design help. The survey also suggests nearly nine out of 10 (88 percent) of participants were happy with the results.
TheĀ statistics suggest 14 percent of participants had worked with an interior designer in the previous two years, a considerable increase over previous estimates. Reasons for this increase were not documented, but it does coincide with growth in household income and home value during the same time period, as well asĀ a more mainstream interest in home design.
Participants choose interior designers over architects, kitchen and bath specialists, and decorators by almost two to one. These designers commonly tackled kitchens, baths, living rooms, and bedrooms.
"Creative problem solving, informed by knowledge and experience, is the value-add that interior designers bring to the consumer," says ASID president Anita Baltimore.
The statistics were drawn from three annual household income groupings: $75,000 up to $125,000, $125,000 up to $200,000, and $200,000 and higher. Male and female participants throughout the United States were aged from 23 to 75 or older.
