Roger Thomas Wins Big

As the driving force behind the Wynn Las Vegas, Bellagio, and Treasure Island, Roger Thomas has already introduced high rollers to his elegant personal style. And his interiors for casino hotels and furniture for Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman prove he's well beyond Sin City glitz. The Roger Thomas Signature collection's 26 pieces are not encumbered by excess embellishment. The Wall Street cabinet, with its substantial posts, takes its cue from Palladian facades. The Veneto lounge chair features sculpted beechwood legs with a silver-leaf finish and in set welting. Bianca, a racy bench named for the designer's Italian greyhound, mingles Roman stylization and Egyptian animal forms. Influenced by chairs in a Venetian 16th-century palazzo, the Donato wingback creates an island of conversation, warding off eavesdroppers as well as drafts. Vital Vinyl

Patty Madden had a busy year in 2007. Besides her signature wall coverings for Luxe Surfaces, she launched the company's Patty Madden Software brand with eight patterns of vinyl-urethane blend upholstery in iridescent colors inspired by the Silk Road. Rivera, available in 32 lustrous tones, is the chameleon of the group. Vertical ticking stripes define Ybor. Banyan recalls the woven material used to make suitcase straps. Olympus features small interconnected dots. Aspen has a stylized leaf pattern. Capreni mimics cracked leather grain. Martini shakes up colors galore. And Bari's texture is almost like flannel.
