Famed environmentalist and author Paul Hawken has been selected as the keynote speaker for the Art Center Summit: Systems, Cities & Sustainable Mobility conference, February 6-7 in Pasadena, California.
Presented by the Art Center College of Design, the annual summit is the second in a series of five exploring the relationships between mobility systems, cities, and transportation.
Hawken, the executive director of the Natural Capital Institute, an organization committed to helping society embrace environmental consciousness, and CEO of technology firm Paxit will speak Wednesday, February 6 at 7pm. Hawken is the author of The Ecology of Commerce, the book that inspired Interface president Ray Anderson to implement environmentally-conscious practices in his carpet manufacturing business, a move that sent ripple effects across the industry.
The Art Center Summit functions as a forum for current sustainability innovations and ideas, and attracts an influential group of visionaries, industry executives, urban planners and government leaders, according to organizers.
Presentations, discussions, and brainstorming sessions will zero in on the role designers play in the future of mobility and urban planning. A complete list of topics and speakers is available at the Art Center College of Design.
