Artemide Pirce

Spiraling toward earth in modish disarray, Giuseppe Maurizio Scutella's Pirce halogen suspension lamp claimed a 2008 Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design. The 39¾-inch-wide aluminum body with white painted finish extends 30¾ inches from an 11¾-inch canopy. 631-694-9292; artemide.us. circle 640

Timothy Ben Furniture

Discussing his inverted diamond-shaped Kite pendant, Cardiff, England—based Tim Forrester says, "the cord is the jewel in the crown, as it uniquely holds the whole piece together." Composed of four radiating acrylic wedges—in clear, orange, Rot, or Blau—which encircle an incandescent bulb, the light has an adjustable cord that allows the user to set the final drop height. 44-7973-119-583; timothybenfurniture.co.uk. circle 644

Alumen8 8-LED

They'll always find the right door with Ron Lancial's 8-LED. The 2½-inch-wide, 2¾-inch-deep diffuser casts direct light on engraved figures or graphics when positioned downward, or provides ambient light when directed up. Choose from steel, stainless steel, or aluminum in three finishes for the 6-by-9-inch face. 760-727-7675; alumen-8.com. circle 643

Pablo Link

Peter Stathis helped the manufacturer snag best-lighting honors at last year's International Contemporary Furniture Fair with his Link task lamp. The aluminum arm in orange, green, white, gray, or black stands 20 inches, pivoting into most positions atop the 12½-inch-wide, die-cast zinc base. A polycarbonate lens covers the LED source. 415-865-5000; pablodesigns.com. circle 642

Alpha Workshops Eden Roc

Equally at home in Miami or Bedrock, the design collective's Eden Roc sconce is hand-cast in Hydrocal, a polymerized plaster, to resemble craggy shorelines—or is it rock candy? At 16 inches wide, 9 high, and 8 deep, it can house either incandescent or compact fluorescent bulbs. 212-594-7320; alphaworkshops.org. circle 641

Andromeda International Melt Meee

Philippe Starck's commissioned Melt Meee started with the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills project that, the designer says, required "a chandelier as delicate as chantilly cream." The resulting glass fixture was inspired by melting the traditional Venetian, tiered Rezzonico chandelier form. Starck's curvy treat comes in seven colors and four sizes, and as a wall sconce. 39-041-73-6674; andromedamurano.it. circle 655

Mathieu Lehanneur

This designer's luminous custom dome was originally created as an in-store installation for tableware manufacturer Christofle. Composed of more than 250 individual 5-, 8-, and 12-inch diameter rings of neon light tubes, called cercline, the copula can be adjusted to replicate the daylight sky or dimmed to low twilight. 33-9-714-98877; mathieulehanneur.com. circle 658

Lladro Clown

Be a lamp—Jaime Hayon's Clown. One of the circus-inspired fancies in the designer's Fantasy collection, the table lamp is crafted of porcelain with a gilded brass nose that works as a dimmer. Including the glass shade, it pratfalls in at 24 inches tall and 15¾ inches in diameter. 800-634-9088; lladro.com. circle 656

Brion Experimental Mesa De Luz

The name of this Argentine team's Mesa de Luz lamp translates directly as night light. The top drawer of the lacquered wood nightstand pulls out to reveal a glowing, LED-illuminated acrylic box. The lamp stands 27½ inches high by 23½ inches wide by 17¾ inches deep. 954-302-8758; brionexperimental.com. circle 657

Leucos Fairy

At once modern and whimsical, the cylindrical floor lamp hails from the Fairy collection by Renato Toso and Noti Massari. A rubber-coated wire cord spirals through the borosilicate crystal body, linking the polished chrome and matte-steel base to the ribbed top, which encloses a halogen bulb. 732-225-0010; leucos.com. circle 662

Fontana Arte Sonmi

Giovannella Formica and Beppe Caturegli collaborated with Metis Lighting on Sonmi, a suspension lamp that is dominated by its 39 1/3-inch-diameter globe, produced in extra-clear tempered glass and available in white or red satin. The mounting is epoxy powder-coated, low-carbon galvanized steel, and accepts a 2G fluorescent bulb. 404-835-6150; fontanaarte.com. circle 659

Almerich Boomerang

Luis Eslava's Boomerang promises many happy returns, courtesy of powder-coated steel shades that simulate the movement made by its namesake. The suspension lamp is 17¼ inches wide, at heights ranging from 11¾ to 47 inches. The floor version with steel base is 17¼ inches wide and 59 inches tall. Both take E27 bulbs. 34-96-134-32-34; almerich.com. circle 660

Arturo Alvarez Gea

The Gea floor lamp depends on silicone for its otherworldy, undulating figure. Five incandescent bulbs cast indirect light through the body—available in white, black, orange, or blue—which has an 11¼-inch-wide top and is 71 inches high. 34-981-81-46-00; arturo-alvarez.com. circle 661

Eureka Lighting Didi

Matthew Kennedy breeds proliferating points of light with Didi, a screw-mounted fixture with 3¾-inch-tall, triplex blown glass shade and chrome tip. The 9-inch-diameter steel base, completely hidden when attached to walls, ceilings, or other surfaces, is fitted for compact fluorescent or halogen bulbs. 514-385-3515; eurekalighting.com. circle 663

Orestes Suarez Lighting Mayan

The handmade Mayan pendant updates ancient art in aluminum, with 24-karat gold, bronze, brown, polished silver, polished copper, or polished or matte nickel finish. In two sizes—8-inch diameter and 12 inches high, or 12-inch diameter and 12½ inches high—the fixture connects to its 4-inch blackened steel canopy with either twisted bronze silk or black rubber wire. It accepts incandescent or compact fluorescent bulbs. 310-312-0477; orestessuarez.com. circle 667

Blauet Luz Oculta

Riffing on the fleeting properties of light, a table lamp from Joan Lao's Luz Oculta family relies on beech strips, held together with steel rings, to alternately obscure and reveal illumination. Measuring 14¾ inches in diameter and 27½ inches high, with steel-plated or beech base, it takes incandescent or compact fluorescent bulbs. Through Estiluz, 201-641-1997; estiluz.com. circle 664

Ralph Pucci International Spun

Chris Lehrecke spins duality with his Spun floor lamps. Bases of laminated walnut, cherry, and ash are topped with powder-coated and metal-leafed spun aluminum shades. Trumpet is 67 inches high with a 13-by-14-inch shade; Convex clocks in at 60 inches with an 8-by-10-inch shade. Both use standard incandescent bulbs. 212-633-0452; ralphpucci.net. circle 666

Marset Zoo

Gerard Sanmartí and Gabriele Schiavon's transparent polycarbonate Zoo wall fitting incorporates an injection-molded, lacquered aluminum diffuser that rotates for either direct or indirect lighting. At 8½ inches wide and 5¼ inches tall, it extends 3 inches from the wall and accepts three 3W LED bulbs. Choose from orange, white, or aluminum. 34-93-460-2067; marset.com. circle 665
