Our friendly neighbors to the north are gearing up for their largest exposition and conference dedicated to design, construction, and building management: the annual IIDEX/NeoCon Canada. The tradeshow will run September 25-26 at Toronto's Direct Energy Centre.

The 2008 show will feature a slew of keynotes from movers and shakers in the design community, including Klaus Nienkämper, the legendary Canadian furniture design pioneer; Greg Scott, major projects director for the 2010 Winter Olympics; and Dr. Michael Braungart, the German chemist and co-author of bestseller "Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things."

Other show highlights include Material World, a showcase featuring the newest innovative and sustainable materials emerging from Canadian companies, as well as an interactive feature exhibit, "Tomorrow's Products From Today's Materials," designed by Material Connexion.

The show's expanded lighting component, Light Canada, will offer more than 100 new international exhibitors proffering interior, exterior, commercial, and architectural lighting products, as well as lamps and lighting controls.

Additional exhibits include Anshen + Allen's Green Patient Room, a 400-square-foot fully sustainable patient room, and Canühome, a built-to-scale home that meets LEED standards.
