The showcase features 45 Brooklyn designers specializing in furniture, lighting, carpeting, flooring and wall coverings.

BKLYN Designs, the modern design show staged annually by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, is preparing to descend upon the borough’s DUMBO neighborhood May 8-10 as it kicks off New York Design Week from legendary St. Ann's Warehouse.

The seventh annual showcase, with Interior Design among the media partners, will once again focus on homegrown talent -- 45 cutting-edge Brooklyn designers proffering furniture, lighting, carpeting, flooring and wall coverings. This year's event also features an auxillary green exhibition at the BSH Showroom, and a children's furniture expo at Jane's Carousel

A jury consisting of industry insiders from Interior Design, Brooklyn's Pratt Institute, and the Guggenheim Museum winnowed down the 45 exhibitors from more than 100 applicants. The panel will also select five designers from the exhibition to be heralded as Brooklyn’s Future International Stars at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, which opens one week later at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan.

"Brooklyn is burgeoning with talent, and BKLYN Designs is one way we have been able to support and celebrate our local designers over the years," says Carl Hum, president and CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.

Last year, BKLYN Designs drew more than 6,500 visitors, including interior designers, retailers, manufacturers, distributors and developers.
