Eastern Standard

Edited by Sheila Kim-Jamet -- Interior Design, 10/1/2004 12:00:00 AM

The two-year-old spin-off of the behemoth NeoCon World's Trade Fair held each June in Chicago, NeoCon East attracted 250 exhibitors to the Baltimore Convention Center on October 6 and 7. More than 6,000 attendees filed into the 175,000-square-foot exhibition space to examine wares and services divided into the four categories of Government Interiors, Greenlife: Products for Sustainable Environments, the Buildings Show, and the Architectural Stone and Ceramic Tile Exposition.

Keynote addresses were given by Shashi Caan, a designer, and Michael Sullivan, director for the Pentagon renovation. Interior Design hosted presentations by the creative forces behind several of NeoCon East's product offerings, with Jess Sorel talking about his designs for Metro, Gensler product designer Carlos Martinez discussing his pieces for Haworth, and biomedical engineer Scott Openshaw explaining his work for Allsteel.
