Cappellini Launches Showroom in Miami

The new storefront is connected to the existing showroom of sister company Poltrona Frau, resulting in an 8,200-square-foot unified space that represents both brands.

Miami's building boom may have come to a screeching halt but its denizen's desire for high-end Italian design apparently has not—at least judging by the new Cappellini showroom that just opened in this sun-filled city's Design District.

The 2,200-square-foot showroom is the third U.S. outpost for the Poltrona Frau Group company, joining outposts in New York and Los Angeles. It is connected to the existing 6,000-square-foot showroom of its sister company Poltrona Frau and the unified space now represents both brands.

The showroom will carry furnishings from Cappellini all-star line-up of designers, including pieces from Jasper Morrison, Tom Dixon, Marc Newson, Marcel Wanders, Shiro Kuramata, and the Bouroullec brothers, Erwan and Ronan.

Cappellini Worldwide's creative director, Giulio Cappellini and Giampiero Di Persia, CEO of Cappellini Miami and Poltrona Frau Miami, hosted a grand opening celebration for the event that attracted a slew of Miami boldfacers, including Fred Kleisner, CEO of Morgans Hotel Group, the current owner of the Delano, the Ian Schrager hotel largely credited with the resurgence of neighboring Miami Beach in the 1990's, and real-estate heavyweight and DACRA CEO, Craig Robins, the man perhaps most responsible for the creation of the Miami Design District.

"Ever since I started working on the Miami Design District, my dream was to find an opportunity to collaborate with Giulio Cappellini," says Robins. "In many ways, his mission not only symbolizes our goals for the District but also laid the foundation that makes shows like Design Miami possible."
