AIA Names Honor Award Winners for 2007
A ceremony will be held in May during the AIA National Convention and Design Exposition, which will be held in San Antonio.

Starting with an enormous 700 submissions, jurors of the American Institute of Architects Honor Awards for 2007 whittled winners down to 29 projects. The awards, which exemplify excellence in architecture, interior architecture, and urban design, are largely considered one of the profession’s highest recognitions. Recipients will be honored in May at the AIA 2007 National Convention and Design Exposition, which will be held in San Antonio.
Honor Awards in Architecture
Eleven worthy projects were selected for Honor Awards in Architecture this year, with schools and educational facilities making a particularly strong showing—eight awards were for these types of facilities. “This year’s collection of projects demonstrates that bold, sculptural expressions of form can be as captivating as ever, yet rational, elegant solutions to structural, programmatic, community and environmental issues can be equally compelling,” says jury chair, Richard A. Logan. The winning projects are:

2007 Institute Honor Awards for Interior Architecture
From small office spaces to college residences to an independent high school, awards in the Interior Architecture category marked a variety of project types, often expressing a great deal of creativity on a small budget. “Some of the winning projects seem deceptively simple, but they reflect a level of complexity in thought and care that the jury associated with the highest design standards,” according to Ann Beha, jury chair for the category.
