Located just north of it’s more famous New York neighborhood counterpart SoHo, the NoHo neighborhood is looking to stake its claim as a design destination in it’s own right with the inaugural NoHo Design District fair.

Running from May 15-18, the inaugural event will feature, pop-up retail shops, exhibitions, open studios, parties, and performances throughout the downtown New York neighborhood. Primarily taking place on the hip Great Jones Street and the chic Bond Street, between Lafayette Street and the Bowery, the NoHo Design District 2010 is scheduled to run concurrently with the International Contemporary Furniture Fair and the surrounding festivities of New York Design Week.

The fair will feature participants like the design store Future Perfect, fashion boutiques Oak, Billy Reid, and Daryl K, and design manufacturer Areaware. It is being organized by Sight Unseen, a new consultancy founded by design editors Jill Singer and Monica Khemsurov, along with project director Maria Cristina Rueda of Uhuru Design.
