Block Party

-- Interior Design, 2/1/2001 12:00:00 AM

West Coast furniture designer Stephen Fleitz, owner of the company Gecko, chose the name Steel Forms for his new line of tables. The pieces consist of white powder-coated steel inlaid with ceramic tiles that Fleitz handmade in a wide variety of colors. "My inspiration for these pieces," says Fleitz, "is Modernism, more specifically the simplicity of mid-century designers. As a California designer, I wanted to capture the feeling of Palm Springs Modern." Currently, the pieces can be seen at Troy, 138 Greene Street, New York, NY 10012 and at Zonal, 1942 Filmore, San Francisco, CA 94115. zonal.citysearch.com.
