Under the Umbrella

Staff -- Interior Design, 10/1/2001 12:00:00 AM

The Sarasota School of Architecture presents its tour and symposium, exploring mid-century architecture and design by the Bauhaus-inspired talents who found innovative ways of using materials in a time when subtropical Florida's weather posed architectural challenges. The program, running from November 1st through 5th, will feature lectures, panel discussions, and bus and boat tours of the Sarasota School movement's architectural highlights including Paul Rudolph's Umbrella House (shown here), 1953. Registered professional architects and interior designers may earn continuing education credits through the tour and symposium. For more information, call (941) 388-1530.
