On the Move

Here's this week's roundup of who’s doing what, where in the design community.

Building material manufacturer USG Corporation has several senior-level management changes, effective January 1, 2006. James S. Metcalf has been named president and COO, USG Corporation. Edward M. Bosowski has been named executive vice president and chief strategy officer, USG Corporation; and president USG International. Dominic A. Dannessa has been named vice president, USG Corporation; and executive vice president, manufacturing, building systems. Fareed A. Khan has been named vice president, USG Corporation; and executive vice president, sales and marketing, building systems.

The San Francisco office of architecture, engineering, planning, and interiors firm SmithGroup has two new principals. Juhee Cho and William L. Loftis will lead the firm’s workplace studio.

Mark Maljanian joins the New York office of architecture, interior design, and planning firm Butler Rogers Baskett as a design studio leader for the firm’s architecture studio.

Paul S. Woolford is now design director for architecture firm Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum's (HOK) San Francisco office. Woolford will serve on the firm’s board of directors. John Reid has joined the New York office of the firm's consulting arm, HOK Advance Strategies. Reid will be responsible for leading facility planning and architectural programming projects for corporate, public and institutional clients in the Northeast.

Architecture, engineering, and planning firm HGA Architects & Engineers has two new hires at its Sacramento, California office. Richard R. Tannahill joins as an associate vice president and project manager and David J. Gill joins as a senior associate and project designer with 16 years of experience.

Lan Le and Gayathri Vissa have joined the science and technology sector at full-service architecture and design firm RTKL’s Washington, D.C., office.
