A trio inspired by the sea makes up the Ocean Shores collection of carpets: Barrier Island has a bright rippled texture, Cedar Bay is an expanse of solid colors, and Coastal Reserve is characterized by its choppy, mottled surface.

Odegard& p>

At first glance, this Himalayan wool rug in the Botanica collection appears to be a delicate composition of flowers, furled leaves, and vines. But look closer, and the blossoms are actually stars; hence the rug's name, Starflower (shown in ginseng), a pattern that deftly merges celestial bodies with earthbound flowers.

Elson & Company& p>

This company has tapped some of the country's leading fashion designers with Fashion Underfoot, a collection of hand-knotted Tibetan rugs by the likes of Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Narciso Rodriguez, and Christina Perrin, who created the colorful wave pattern shown. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.

New York interior designer Alexandra Champalimaud considers Taos, New Mexico, her second home—no surprise, then, that she conceived her Navaho Blue and Navaho Red area rugs there. Referencing a Navaho serape, the woven wrap worn by the women of the tribe, these Egyptian-wool carpets are distinguished by rhythmic lines, deep colors, and a strong rectangular geometry. Stark Carpet& p>

Interior designer Juan Montoya's debut collaboration with Stark Carpet has yielded a collection called—what else?—Juan Montoya. The 20-plus wool and silk-and-wool rugs feature a range of textured graphic patterns, all with a 1950s and '60s flavor, in rich yet subdued neutrals.

The Refraction carpet tile is marked by lines and stripes that cut like a beam of light across the surface in shifting bands. Most illuminating, though, are the bright stripes highlighted in accent colors on the more neutral ground. Available in eight colorways.
