Jaime Salm and Todd Bergman looked to the stoops of Philadelphia row houses—and the casual interaction they invite—to cross a new threshold in minimalist seating. Simply constructed from recyclable aluminum, Stoop is posture-healthy, stackable, and appropriate indoors or out. Visit site.

Sismo

The French team of Antoine Fenoglio and Frédéric Lecourt based their Amorgos chaise longue on research into the structural and graphic relationship of interlocking shapes. The seat pivots to create one or two places to sit, depending on your mood or companion. Phone, in France, 33-1-40-84-08-70.

Offi & Company

Feeling nostalgic for school days? Apparently Eric Pfeiffer was when he designed the Perch lounge chair, based on the classroom classic. Forget textbooks, the elevated wire shelf is the perfect place to stash magazines or a laptop. Perch has a contoured plywood shell with fully upholstered pad and a chrome-plated steel-tube frame. Visit site.

Walter Knoll

The upholstered Kite sofa by PearsonLloyd is a study in minimalism. We appreciate the clarity and lightness. Phone, in Germany, 49-70-32-2080.

Vitra

The Cone was designed by Verner Panton for a Danish restaurant, but we think this 1958 chair deserves billing as the official seat of international swingers. It features a stainless-steel swivel base and an upholstered semicircular fiberglass-plastic shell with an extra cushion. Available in red, black, orange, and blue. Visit site.

Lush Life

There's something languorously sexy about Roz Hayes and Dani Stoller's Lounge Pad, which can be used in singular or multi-unit configurations. It features a fiberglass body covered in polyurethane foam, and brushed-metal legs. Phone 323-343-9968.

Nienkämper

The Niilo lounge chair has a charmingly cartoonish quality. Modest scale makes the piece suitable for residential spaces, but we think it would add a playful note to office reception areas as well. Choose between leather or fabric for upholstery and among veneer finishes such as burnt walnut, maple, and cherry for the laminated-wood frame. Visit site.
