Wall Art

An exhibition at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum in Providence demonstrates that wall coverings aren't always destined to be wallflowers. The background can become the main attraction. Andy Warhol and John Baldessari are among 23 notables whose unique—and occasionally off-the-wall—handiwork appears in "On the Wall: Wallpaper by Contemporary Artists." Covering 1966 to the present, the show also presents special installations by Virgil Marti and Francesco Simeti. February 7–April 20; 401-454-6500; risd.edu/museum.cfm.
