| Branching out Dominique Jakob and Brendan MacFarlane—who designed Georges, the restaurant atop the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris—intend their Three-One to be a room's central furnishing, not just a place to store books and CDs. Introduced at this year's Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, this dramatic Sawaya & Moroni shelving system stands 6 feet 5 inches tall "like a tree with branches extending upwards," says Jakob. Made of methacrylate, the piece comes in various clear brights as well as a semiopaque Ice White. The slightly taller Three-Two has branches with curved tops—as opposed to flat. 11 Via Manzoni, 20121 Milan, Italy; 39-02-72-02-3203; sawayamoroni.com. |

Timorous Beasties
Although this company was at the show, the best place to view its edgy wallpaper and fabric was off-site at the Apartment.
