New Moen Contest Call for Entries

Winner, announced at K/BIS 2005, will take home $10K in cash.

Moen Incorporated, the plumbing products manufacturer based in Ohio, has launched a new annual design competition to recognize achievements in creative design in kitchen and bath. The ShowHouse Award of Excellence competition, which was announced to coincide with the unveiling of the new ShowHouse by Moen line of products, will be open to interior designers, architects and showroom consultants who creatively employ ShowHouse products in their kitchen or bath projects. This year, the ShowHouse Award of Excellence will focus exclusively on bath designs.

“We see such tremendous creativity and ingenuity by designers in the kitchen and bath industry, and we felt it was time to recognize and reward their talent,” said Margie Rowe, brand manager at Moen. “The ShowHouse Award of Excellence will allow us the opportunity to highlight unique projects,” she added.

The contest was first announced last spring at the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show & Conference 2004 in Chicago.

The contest id open to interior designers, architects and showroom consultants. Entrants must submit written proposals outlining the scope of their projects and the ShowHouse products used. Entries must also include blueprints or renderings initially developed for the projects, as well as photographs of the completed designs. To qualify, projects must have been completed between July 1 and December 31, 2004. Entries will be due no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on January 10, 2005.

A panel of editors from the nation’s top shelter and design magazines will judge the entries based on criteria such as creativity in design, effective use of ShowHouse by Moen products and appropriate styling.

The winning designs will be announced at a special ceremony at K/BIS 2005, which will be held in Las Vegas, May 9-12. The designer of the winning project will receive a personalized award honoring their achievement and a $10,000 cash prize. The second and third place designers will win $5,000 and $2,500 respectively.
