Brazilian designers Humberto and Fernando Campana will take home the coveted Designer of the Year award at the 2008 Design Miami/. The Campana brothers will design a courtyard installation for the design event, which will be held at various locations in the Miami Design District December 3-6.

Using the Brazilian plant Apu, the designers will present a new rendition of their TransPlastic series, which made its debut at London's Albion Gallery in 2007. The rapidly growing plant, which completely clads trees in the Brazilian rainforest, will cover plastic items including garden chairs, discarded toys, dolls, flip-flops, and tires with a lush green foliage. The overall effect symbolizes "nature's triumph over the synthetic world," according to press material.

Collectors and special guests attending the fair will also have the opportunity to rest weary feet at a VIP lounge designed by the brothers for principal sponsor HSBC Private Bank.

The Campana brothers often use recycled materials or found objects in their work.
