Here's this week's roundup of who's doing what, where in the design community.

Architecture firm RMJM Hillier has appointed four new design and technical experts: Chris Jones, the managing principal of the newly-formed Urban Studio, as well as curtain/wall expert Winslow Kosior, and healthcare designer John Plappert. Roger Klein joins the firm as design principal for the global education, design, and specialty studios. The firm also promoted Mark Lippi, David Altenhofen, and Eric Jaffe to the position of principal.

Swanke Hayden Connell Architects has named Scott Springer a principal at the firm. Prior to joining SHCA, Springer was a senior associate principal at Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.

Kansas-based architecture firm Gould Evans will merge its San Francisco office with Baum Thornley Architects of San Francisco.

Interior Design Giants firm Perkins + Will has hired RK Stewart as an associate principal to lead the firm's San Francisco office on corporate, commercial, and civic projects. Stewart was the 2007 president of the American Institute of Architects.

Legat Architects has hired Dennis Kluge as director of interior architecture. Kluge will lead and market the firm's interior architecture practice on a regional and national level.

Rug designer Rosemary Hallgarten has teamed up with Rugmark, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to ending child labor in the carpet industry. Hallgarten's rugs will be stamped with the Rugmark label, which insures carpets produced in India, Nepal, and Pakistan are child-labor free.

After a 21-year career at Steelcase, Jon Botsford is senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary at home furnishings manufacturer and retailer Furniture Brands International.

Brian Hackfeld is director of national sales and business development for furniture designer and manufacturer Dakota Jackson.

Kristine Gregonis moves up to vice president at architecture and interior design firm VOA Associates. She currently serves as the interior design director of VOA's hospitality practice group.

The New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects has installed eight 2008 officers: Seth Leeb, president; Jason Kliwinski, first vice president; Thomas Meyers, second vice president; David Del Vecchio, regional director; Stacey Ruhle Kliesch, president-elect; Glenn Pellet, treasurer; Michael Hanrahan, secretary; and Jerome Leslie Eben, immediate past president.

Design firm Susman Tisdale Gayle has promoted Gautam Dey to principal and Fred Peebles to associate principal.

Stephanie Chu has been promoted to the position of associate at architecture firm Fradkin & McAlpin Associates.

Shareholders of architecture, engineering, and construction company Ellerbe Becket have reelected three members of the firm's board of directors. CEO Rick Linicome, William Crockett, and Carol Sakoian are all returning for two-year terms.

St. Louis-based fixture manufacturer idX Corporation has named Bill Rapagnani vice president of customer development.

Interior design and architecture firm Staffelbach Design Associates recently moved its Dallas headquarters from 2525 Carlisle Street, where it spent its first 41 years, to a 19,000-square-foot space at 2525 McKinnon Street.
