Deck the Halls

edited by Sheila Kim -- Interior Design, 11/1/2003 12:00:00 AM

B&B Italia, London, is hosting "Let There Be Light," an exhibit of one-of-a-kind decorations by such star designers as Tord Boontje, Ron Arad, and Mathias Bengtsson. Asked to reinterpret conventional Christmas lighting, the 15 participants also include design firm Black + Blum, which fashioned colorful dragonflies, and architecture firm De Matos Storey Ryan, which modified the insect theme in neon with Let There Bee Light. Interior design firm Found Associates took a more abstract approach, contributing cascading strands of clear plastic that emit a kinetic blue glow.

The show culminates with a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit Shelter, the U.K.'s national charity for the homeless and badly housed. December 1-22; 44-20-7591-8111; bebitalia.it.
