High On Photography

-- Interior Design, 12/1/2000 12:00:00 AM

Atlanta's High Museum of Art presents Chorus of Light: Photographs from the Sir Elton John Collection, showcasing the musician's assemblage of 20th-century prints by modern, Surrealist, and contemporary masters. Since 1991, John has amassed an impressive holding of over 2,000 photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Andre Kertész, Annie Leibovitz, Tina Modotti, Irving Penn, and others. More than 380 prints, on view through January 28th, are exhibited in a dense, salon-like setting with decorative objects that approximate John's own residential installation. The museum's downtown annex, the Folk Art and Photography Gallery, concurrently features portraits of celebrities-including many musicians-from John's collection.
