HOSPY Awards Laud Las Vegas Designers

Wynn Design takes home seven of 16 prizes.

NEWH Las Vegas, a chapter of the national non-profit organization Network of Executive Women in Hospitality, recently held its second annual Hospitality Awards for Excellence--a.k.a. the HOSPY’s--at the Latour Ballroom at Wynn Las Vegas. The program recognized deserving individuals and firms in the hospitality industry for achievements in architecture, design, and development.

Wynn Design and Development Group walked away with seven of the 16 total awards, including Best Grand Hotel, Best Typical Room, Best Lobby, Best Casino Space, Best Ballroom/Convention Space, Best Night Club, and Best Interiorscape.

Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Las Vegas interior designers Roger Thomas, executive vice president of Wynn Design and Development, and Janellen Radoff, who, until her recent retirement, served as the company’s vice president. The two were recognized for their significant contributions in concepts, designs and implementation of Steve Wynn’s landmark casinos, including the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, the Mirage, Treasure Island, the Bellagio, and the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas and Macau, China.

Several other firms also took HOSPY’s home. ABA won awards for the Four Seasons Grand Exuma, the Lodge at Rancho Mirage, and the MGM Grand Monorail Connector, for Best Midsize Hotel, Best Boutique Hotel, and Best Airport & Transportation Space, respectively. Marnell Carrao Associates took prizes for the Bellagio Spa Tower Presidential Suites and Bellagio Spa for Best Suite and Best Spa, respectively. The Ruby Room at Las Vegas Sands, Macau, China garnered Paul Steelman Design Group the award for Best Restaurant; ARCS, a Robert Cromean Salon at Mandalay Place and the Hardrock Hotel & Casino landscaping in Hollywood, Florida, both by CLEO Design, were determined winners for Best Hospitality Retail Space and Best Hospitality Property Landscape, respectively. And Zumanity at New York-New York by Dena Remeta Design took Best Lounge/Theatre.

Proceeds from the event will be used to fund scholarships for students pursuing careers in hospitality.
