The Atlanta center is Herman Miller’s fourth successful run for LEED certification in the U.S.

Herman Miller has landed LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) for its new National Design Center in Atlanta. Designed by Krueck & Sexton Architects, the center was awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification in the Commercial Interiors (CI) category.

The award recognizes the 15,200-square-foot facility’s sustainable design, which includes more than 15 percent recycled content and significant energy savings. More than 70 percent of the total equipment and appliance wattage is Energy Star rated, and all electrical power is tapped from Green-e sustainable sources.

The Atlanta center is Herman Miller’s fourth successful run for LEED certification in the U.S. Since 2000, most of the firm’s LEED projects have been head up by Krueck & Sexton Architects. “Each project is unique,” says Rico Cedro, director of sustainable design for Krueck & Sexton Architects of Chicago. “Herman Miller sets and regularly exceeds its own standards.”

The Atlanta center is located in the Puritan Mill complex on Atlanta’s west side, at 916 Lowery Boulevard NW.
