ICFF Reveals 2007 Results

Fifty-four percent of attendees were interior designers.

Last month, New York´s Jacob K. Javitz Convention Center was the international destination for design. From May 19-22 it served as home to the 19th annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF). The results are in and the 2007 program drew record numbers: Over 25,000 visitors made the trip—up eight percent when compared to 2006.

Who were they? Fifty-four percent were interior designers, architects, 25 percent retailers, 11 percent designers, manufacturers, and 10 percent representatives, distributors, developers. The numbers include representatives from around the world, from countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Botswana, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.

Items on view came from 641 exhibitors (275 first time, 42 percent)—338 U.S. (52 percent); 303 non-U.S. (47 percent).

The tradeshow was rounded off with a vast array of events, special programs, and exhibits—such as the annual juried exhibition of student work from six of the field's leading institutions of higher education: the California College of the Arts, the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Philadelphia University, the University of Alberta, and the University of Idaho College of Art & Architecture.

Next year, ICFF will take place May 17-20.
