Global architectural firm RMJM Hillier has launched the MERJE environmental graphic design studio in the firm's Philadelphia office. MERJE is the new name and brand of RMJM Hillier's environmental graphic design group, which operated under the Hillier Architecture banner prior to the RMJM and Hillier merger in 2007.
Furniture manufacturer Izzy has named Rune Akselberg vice president for sales of Izzy-branded products as well as products offered by Izzy's strategic alliance partners, HÅG and Nemschoff. Akselberg officially joins the company on August 1.
The board of the Philadelphia Museum of Art voted unanimously to appoint chief operating
officer Gail Harrity chief executive officer and associate director of collections, and Alice Beamesderfer interim head of curatorial affairs. The appointments follow the unexpected death on June 1 of museum director and CEO Anne d'Harnoncourt.
Houston-based architecture and interior design firm Kirksey has promoted Lisa Alfonso to vice president of the firm's interior architecture team.
New Jersey-based Mackenzie Keck Construction, a global provider of general contracting, construction management, and consulting services, has opened a new European division based in Karlsruhe, Germany. Sven Flohr has been named director of European operations and Roy Rayment will serve as project executive.
National architecture, engineering, and interiors firm SmithGroup has hired Sommer Caraway as public relations coordinator for its Phoenix office.
Newman Architects is the new name of New Haven, Connecticut-based architecture firm Herbert S Newman and Partners.
The Aztec Corporation, a New Jersey-based architecture and design firm, has hired Katherine Horohoe as a facility analyst.
The Association of Woodworking and Furnishings Suppliers, a trade group representing manufacturers and distributors of machinery and supplies for furnishings and wood products, has promoted operations director Marguerite Hoffman to vice president of tradeshows.
Independent architecture center The Architecture Foundation has moved its offices from the Clerekenwell neighborhood in London to the Somerset House on the city's Strand.
