New Name for Copenhagen Furniture Fair

The fair will be held at Bella Center in Copenhagen.

Nicholas Tamarin -- Interior Design, 1/15/2008 12:00:00 AM

The annual Copenhagen International Furniture Fair has a new name--and a different focus--for 2008. Copenhagen Design, or CODE, organized by the Bella Center and the Association of Danish Furniture Industries, will be held at the city's Bella Center, May 15-May 18.

The fair, celebrating 40 years, will feature an expanded design category and a new architecture category, as well as a new exhibition director, Lone Ann Disch. Disch brings a discerning eye for design, say organizers.

Products will be showcased in four categories: Selected, Living, Architecture, and Gallery. Selected, the fair's expanded design component, will take place in the facilities Center Hall and highlight not only furnishings but design objects from around the world, such as phones and scooters.

Architecture, a new arena to the fair, will showcase Scandinavian architecture projects from around the world and include speeches and presentations by architects on upcoming projects. Gallery is the new version of the former Talent Zone, a venue for manufacturers, distributors, and architects to connect with up-and-coming designers. Living will highlight furniture, lighting, and accessories from Scandinavian design companies.

The fair is open to the trade May 15-17; on May 18, it opens to the public.
