Lauren Rottet, principal of DMJM Rottet and member of the Interior Design Hall of Fame, adds "curator" to her résumé with "Imperative Design" at the Barbara Davis Gallery in Houston.

The exhibition of furniture and industrial design "explicitly rejects the idea of disposable objects," Rottet says, and instead celebrates the everyday with functional artistic items.

Featured in the exhibition are Arik Levy, Ross Lovegrove, Greg Lynn, Zaha Hadid, Mark Holmes, David Mocarski and, of course, Rottet herself.

Imperative Design runs from January 26–March 1 at the Barbara Davis Gallery. For more information, call 713-520-8409 or visit barbaradavisgallery.com.
