The Forest Stewardship Council is soliciting entries for the second annual Designing & Building with FSC Award. Recognizing building projects that have furthered responsible forest management through purchase of FSC-certified wood products, the award is open to owners, architects, interior designers, general contractors, builders, and consultants, among other building professionals.
Entries can be any building type completed during or since 2003, from commercial and institutional to mixed-use or residential. At least 50 percent of the new wood by cost must be FSC-certified. Last year, Goldman Sachs & Co took the prize, with 30 Hudson Street in New York.
A jury of industry representatives from architectural firm WBA Architects, the Natural Step building group, the Center for Maximum Building Performance, forest products manufacturers Panel Source International and VT Industries, and Eco-Structure magazine will judge submissions based on the use of wood, inclusion of FSC-certified wood, efforts to progress certified forest products market transformation, overall wood design and appropriate wood use.
The winner will be revealed at the GreenBuild ’06 Conference and Expo in Denver, Colorado, which will be held November 15-17, profiled on the FSC’s website, and featured in the FSC’s green building related print media.
Application forms are available in the Green Building section of the FSC-US website.
Check out last year’s entries online.
We would love your feedback!
