Contest Awards Projects Using Fortune Contract Carpet

The Culver City, California office of architecture firm HOK and DFS Group of Alexandria, Virginia are this year's winners.

Last month, at NeoCon World's Trade Fair in Chicago, two firms earned a nod for their design-savvy use of Fortune Contract carpet. Bestowed through the commercial carpet manufacturer's annual Yards to Miles Competition, the awards honored one West Coast and one East Coast firm.

For the West Coast, the winner is the Culver City, California office of architecture firm HOK. Senior vice president Clay Pendergrast and his team were recognized for the design of the corporate offices of law firm Dreier Stein & Kahan in Santa Monica, California, which they fitted out with Fortune 's Forecast, Dateline and Roadwork carpet styles. The final result is modern, without clashing with the architecture details of the building.

DFS Group of Alexandria, Virginia picked up the coveted East Coast award. Spearheaded by Bronwyn Thomas, director of design, the project team selected Fortune Contract’s Roadwork and Stripe Tease for Halstead at Slatersville, a multi family clubhouse in Slatersville, Rhode Island.

"We were overwhelmed by the caliber of entries in this year’s competition," says Judith Ingalls, Fortune Contract's vice president of style and design.

Winners took home a cash prize and a Yards to Miles crystal sculpture and will be featured in Fortune publicity and on the Fortune Contract Web site. For information on the 2009 Yards to Miles competition, visit Fortune Contract.
