The American Society of Interior Designers announced its 2005 Class of Fellows at an awards ceremony last weekend, during Interiors ’06: The ASID Conference on Design. Five professional members received the fellowship, and one influential Industry Partner representative received an honorary fellowship. Recognizing contributions to the advancement of ASID or the interior design profession, the fellowships are the organization’s highest honor bestowed on a volunteer or “friend of the society,” according to press material.
The honorees are: Lisa C. Bonneville; Daniel Burton; Elaine Koufman; Kenneth LeDoux; Sue Markham; and Chip DeGrace, honorary fellow. Bonneville, principal of Bonneville Design in Boston, is an advocate for universal design, or design which serves all people, no matter their age or physical abilities. Interior designer Burton, is dedicated to legal recognition for the interior design profession. In 1991, he helped pass the Tennessee Title Act. Long-term ASID volunteers Koufman, an interior designer in Branford, Connecticut, and Markham, employed by Gulf Power in Pensacola, Florida, have served the ASID in several leadership positions. As interior design director for Ellerbe Becket in Minneapolis, LeDoux has earned more than 50 design awards for both U.S. and international projects. Honorary fellow Degrace, vice president of creative marketing and director of brand management for Interface FLOR in Chicago, has served the organization for several years at both the Society and chapter levels.
Interiors '06 was held March 16-19 in Nashville, Tennessee.
