AIA L.A.’s Dazzling Home Tours

This Spring, architectural masterpieces open their doors to the public.

Meaghan O'Neill -- Interior Design, 4/13/2005 12:00:00 AM

There’s something thrilling about peeking into the home of a stranger-- especially when that home is a stunning contemporary design. With this idea in mind, the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles is hosting three Sunday tours of local residences with off-the-chart wow. The chapter’s Home Tours 2005, which will be held May 15, June 5, and June 26 in Venice, Pacific Palisades, and the Santa Monica area, give visitors the chance to view the homes, talk with the architects, and discover new designs.

In Venice, cutting-edge design and innovative ideas characterize the residential works of Michael Folonis, David Hertz, Koning Eizenberg Architecture, and Vaughan Trammell. Whether secluded in the canyon or open to sweeping oceanic views, homes by Abramson Teiger Architects, Johnston Marklee, and Eva Sobesky in beautiful Pacific Palisades are sure to impress. In Santa Monica and its environs, a casual urban sense prevails, with designs by Larry Scarpa, Roger Sherman, and J. Robert Thibodeau mirroring the city’s spirit.

The Home Tours are self-driven events. With their tickets, guests receive a map, driving directions, and information on each of the homes included in the tour. Architects, designers, and docents will also be at the homes to answer questions.

For more information or to order tickets, e-mail tours@aialosangeles.org, call 213-639-0769, or download the order form (pdf).
