LuxeHome Hosts Fund-Raising Event in Chicago

Lobster dim sum is on the menu.

Laura B. Weiss -- Interior Design, 10/2/2007 12:00:00 AM

Foodies worldwide know that Chicago, with its collection of inventive restaurants and cutting edge chefs, is a hot culinary destination. On November 16, the public will get a chance to sample the cooking of some of the Windy City’s leading chefs, while tasting wines from vineyards from around the world, at an event hosted by kitchen and bath purveyor LuxeHome at design destination the Merchandise Mart.

Co-sponsored by Wine Spectator, the event, dubbed "Chill," is being staged to benefit the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago.

Sterling Vineyards, Andre Clouet, and Chalone Vineyard are among the winemakers who will be pouring for visitors at the tasting, which will feature a silent auction of wine and restaurant packages donated from participating wineries, distributors and restaurants. For those who want to savor rarer vintages, there’s also a VIP reception--available at a higher ticket price--earlier in the evening.

Installed in LuxeHome’s kitchen vignettes, chefs will offer a variety of dishes for visitors to sample. Douglas D'Avico of Trattoria 10 will present Madagascar shrimp with garlic-chili sauce and herbed focaccia, for example, and Kevin Dusinski of Roy’s will whip up Maine lobster dim sum. Other participating chefs and restaurants include: Tony Priolo of Coco Pazzo, Rick Gresh of David Burke's Primehouse, and Shelley Young of The Chopping Block.

The public tasting and silent auction will be held from 6pm-8pm on the first floor of the Merchandise Mart, 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza. Tickets are $75. The VIP reception runs from 5pm-6pm; tickets are $150. For more information, visit LuxeHome or call 312-628-0251.
