Architecture, design, and planning firm Gensler has developed a unique way to donate furniture to Center on Halsted, a new community center serving Chicago's Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender community. Based on a wedding registry, the Furniture Shower e-registry site offers donors an engaging way to hand-pick items for the center.
The center offers support networks and programming that meet the cultural, emotional, social, educational and recreational needs and is the first of its kind in the Midwest. Designed by Gensler, the facility includes a Whole Foods grocery store on the ground floor, meeting rooms, a cafe, a resource center, gym, theater, offices, and a roof garden.
The items in the e-registry, selected by Gensler, include sofas, Eames Rockers, and light fixtures—all at discount prices, thanks to manufacturers including Knoll, Herman Miller, Interface FLOR, and Allsteel.
The center will hold a “shower” on April 10 for donors at Circuit Night Club, 3641 North Halsted Street in Chicago, highlighting remaining furniture needs.
We would love your feedback!
