Illinois Governor Pat Quinn
It's official: the week of NeoCon World's Trade Fair is now Interior Design Week in Illinois following a proclamation last Friday from the state's governor, Pat Quinn.
In conjunction with the Illinois Interior Design Coalition, a non-profit political action committee, Quinn designated the week of June 15 through 22 in honor of the interior design profession and the nearly 1,600 registered interior designers practicing in the Prairie State. NeoCon kicks off the week and runs from Monday through Wednesday at the legendary Merchandise Mart in Chicago.
As part of the initiative, the IIDC is urging the state's designers to register with the state. The organization's stated goal is to protect the public's health, safety, and welfare through the integrity of the Illinois Interior Design Title Act. The Title Act prohibits anyone not registered with the state from using the titles "Registered Interior Designer" and "Registered Residential Interior Designer."
