White for Fall

edited by Craig Kellogg -- Interior Design, 9/1/2006 12:00:00 AM

It's become the must-have accessory for every high-end New York department store: a chic café. The latest is Saks Fifth Avenue's SnAKS, a smart little number that II by IV Design Associates created in the middle of the womens's contemporary collection floor. Mirrored pendant globes, Warren Platner's side chairs, upholstered in lavender, and custom screens with clear acrylic panels punctuate the shiny white envelope of the 65-seat eatery—already expanded from the original 30. With luck, the lines outside will now be shorter.
