Funding to Enhance Public Projects

Staff -- Interior Design, 10/1/2001 12:00:00 AM

The New Public Works initiative, founded by the National Endowment for the Arts, was developed to attract high-quality design in the public realm through sponsorship of design competitions. This August, in accordance with this initiative, the NEA announced funding of up to $50,000 each for ten national competitions. Some of the public projects to receive design competition funding include: the redesign of the Arroyo Parkway streetscape in Pasadena; the new Brooklyn Public Library Visual and Performing Arts Library; the 11th Street bridges in Washington, D.C.; and the Queens Museum of Art expansion in Long Island City, NY.
