Student Sees Wallpaper Realized

The winners of the 2008 Source One Wallcovering Competition will be announced in April.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 3/25/2008 12:00:00 AM

Wave, James Wise's modern take on polka dots, is now part of the Source One Exclusive collection by commercial wallpaper manufacturer Source One Wallcovering. The 2007 Hospitality Student Grand Prize Winner of the Source One Design Competition, co-sponsored by Interior Design, Wise is a student at Utah State University.

Wave is offered in several different color palettes on a matte background -- from classic black on white, to "more fashion-forward colors," including metallic silver on bright yellow. The design was conceived in part as tribute to Wise's wife, who has a penchant for polka dots and modern design.

“My design reminds me of something that you would see in a Las Vegas night club," says Wise.

The 2008 corporate and hospitality winners of the Source One Wallcovering Design Competition will be announced on Friday, April 25th at 10 a.m., when the winning designs will be posted on the Source One Web site.

The competition awards $1,000 cash to the student hospitality grand prize winner and the student corporate grand prize winner, and a $1,000 donation to each school. Grand prize winners also earn the chance to see their designs tested for production.
